THE MAKING OF UBU

An adaptation of “Ubu on the Hill” (reducing the play “King Ubu” to two acts) which Alfred Jarry wrote to pay the bills. After a short prologue by Jean-Christophe Averty, the film is driven by Alfred Jarry’s text, interpreted by three actors. This Ubu is constructed like the “Making of” a film that will never exist, from the storyboard design to the video control room where Father Ubu comes to life in the form of a sweet potato and Mother Ubu as a turnip, not to mention the actors’ make-up, the cut-in-scenes...Jean-Christophe Averty reveals the secrets of how he does it.
