In 1986 the old Orsay railway station became one of the greatest museums in Paris. The Orsay Museum’s collections cover the 19th century, from the 1848 Revolution up until the 1914 war. These collections include paintings, sculptures, decorative arts and photography. This film invites you to make two discoveries. The first discovery being the place itself, the station and its architect, and the transformation that was involved. The viewer is then invited to discover an impressive number of masterpieces, from Courbet to Bonnard; Manet, Renoir and Monet; from Carpeaux to Rodin and from Garnier to Gallé...It is a film that can either propose a privileged discovery of the Orsay Museum, or revive souvenirs for those who have already visited.
